Anna Viemeister
Anna Viemeister is a graduate of Portland State University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. Her current voice teacher is Christine Meadows, head of the Opera Department at PSU. In the past Anna has worked with such voice teachers as Richard Poppino, Ruth Dobson and Marcia Viemeister. In her time at PSU she has performed in such operatic roles as, Suor Dolcina of Puccini's "Suor Angelica," Dorabella of Mozart's "Cosi fan Tutti," Mimi in Puccini's "La Boheme," and Alice Ford in Verdi's "Falstaff." Through the Student Opera at PSU club's ( SOAP ) summer program opportunities, Anna has also performed as Queen Dido from Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas," Prince Orlofsky in Strauss' "Die Fledermaus," and Anna in the newly composed "Maelstrom." Her choral experience includes working with such professional groups as the Portland Symphonic Choir, directed by Stephen Zopfi, the First United Methodist Chancel Choir, directed by Gary St. John, as well as Portland Vocal Consort, directed by Ryan Heller. Choral works with in PSU include Mozart's Requiem as the mezzo soloist, Bernstein's Chichester Psalms as the soprano soloist, Beethoven's Mass in C, as well as featured solos in the PSU Chamber Choir world premier Veljo Tormis CD. Anna has also performed as the Second Soprano soloist in the Bach Magnificat with the First United Methodist Chancel Choir. Anna will be continuing her studies at the Manhattan School of Music in the Fall of 2009 and will be pursuing a Master's Degree of Music in Vocal Performance. Anna credits any success and improvement to her supportive family, and true friends.
